Description
About this car
The Nissan Qashqai is the car that more or less invented the family crossover, and this 2016 example is from the second generation that refined the formula considerably. Finished in grey with five doors, it's in Tekna trim — the most generously equipped version in the range — and pairs the 1.6-litre dCi diesel with Nissan's Xtronic CVT automatic gearbox. It has covered 63,600 miles, which is unremarkable for a diesel of this age and typical of a car used for the sort of mixed and motorway driving it was designed for. As a family car it makes a great deal of sense. The raised seating position and tall, square door openings make fitting a child seat far less of a contortion than in a conventional hatchback, and there's genuine room for two adults or three children across the back bench. The boot is a good, usable shape with a flat load lip, and the generation introduced Nissan's clever adjustable boot board system that lets you split the space into sections or create a level floor with the rear seats folded. For buggies, boot-fulls of shopping, dog crates and holiday luggage, it copes without drama. The 1.6 dCi is a well-known engine and a sensible choice for anyone covering decent annual mileage, offering strong pulling power from low revs and good economy on longer runs — it's at its best as a motorway and A-road cruiser rather than a short-hop town car. The Xtronic automatic suits that character too, slurring smoothly between ratios and making stop-start traffic genuinely relaxing, though like all CVTs it prefers a gentle right foot to being worked hard. Please see the specification table on this page for the manufacturer's official economy and emissions figures. Tekna was the flagship trim, and on this generation it typically brought items such as a panoramic glass roof, leather upholstery with heated front seats, the NissanConnect touchscreen with navigation, Nissan's Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system, larger alloy wheels and LED headlights. We'd encourage you to check the equipment list and photographs for exactly what this particular car carries. On safety, the second-generation Qashqai was awarded the full five stars by Euro NCAP when tested in 2014, with strong scores for both adult and child occupant protection. To drive, it's comfortable and easy-going rather than sporting. The steering is light, visibility is good thanks to the high-ish driving position, and refinement at motorway speeds is one of the model's quiet strengths. It's an undemanding car to live with, which is precisely why so many families and commuters keep coming back to them. Like every car we sell, this Qashqai has been prepared and checked by the team here at Tico Motors, and we're happy to talk you through exactly what we found and what we've done. You're very welcome to come and view it, take your time with it, and ask us anything.
